Is Tylenol Being Recalled? What Amazon's Acetaminophen Recall Actually Covers (2026)
The short answer
No new Tylenol-brand recall this fall. The bottle being recalled now is Amazon's own acetaminophen, made in India.
Aurobindo Pharma USA pulled Amazon Basic Care Extra Strength 500 mg caplets on September 18, 2026. Shoppers had complained the pills were off color. Fox Business reports seven lots in three bottle sizes.
Find the lot number on your bottle tonight. If it is on the list below, do not take it.
The 500 count bottle says Amazon. The 1,000 count bottle says Amazon. You bought the big one so it would last all winter. Nothing on the front said who made the pills.
No shame in that. Amazon's own box says "Compare to Extra Strength Tylenol."

Is Tylenol itself being recalled right now?
Quick answer: no new Tylenol-brand recall this fall. The last two were in late 2025. One was a single lot, and the other was one distributor's stock.
Recall records checked October 26, 2026.
You want to know before you hand your husband something for his fever tonight. That is fair.
In October 2025, Kenvue pulled one lot of Tylenol Extra Strength, the 24 caplet bottle. It was lot EJA022, 3,816 bottles. The reason given is "Defective Container."
In December 2025, Gold Star Distribution pulled the small Tylenol packs it had shipped. The record cites "rodent exposure/activity" where it stored them. That was one warehouse, not Kenvue's plant.
What is acetaminophen?
It is the medicine inside Tylenol. The bottle in the news is not Tylenol at all. It is acetaminophen with Amazon's name on the front.
Which Amazon bottles are on the recall?
Quick answer: Amazon Basic Care Extra Strength 500 mg caplets, in 200, 500 and 1,000 count bottles. Seven lots in all.
The federal recall record lists lot ACD124048A, the 1,000 count, expiring 11/30/2027. That one lot is 7,836 bottles.
Fox Business gave the full list on October 14, from federal data.
- 200 count: ACD125040A
- 500 count: ACD124036A, ACD124030A, ACD124042A, ACD124048B and ACD125010A
- 1,000 count: ACD124048A
That is 112,932 bottles, by its count. Most are the 500 count.
How do I find the lot number on my bottle?
Pick up the bottle. Find the lot number and the EXP date. Both are printed on the bottle, and on the box if it came in one.
Match every letter and number, right to the end. ACD124048A and ACD124048B are two lots, in two sizes.
If yours matches, do not take it. CNN reported that you are asked to contact Amazon customer service.
Who made the pills in the Amazon bottle?
Quick answer: Aurobindo Pharma, a drug company based in India. Amazon's name is on the front. Aurobindo's is not.
You want a pain pill you can grab at two in the morning without thinking. Nothing wrong with that. The trouble is who stands behind the name on the front.
The label says it is distributed by Amazon.com Services LLC, and "Made in India." The bottle never names who made the pills.
CNN put it plainly. The pills "are made by Aurobindo Pharma but sold under Amazon's private label."
Amazon told Fox Business the pills came from Aurohealth. Aurobindo's own website lists AuroHealth as one of its US companies.
So the name on your bottle tells you who sold it. It does not tell you who made it.
Have Amazon's pills been pulled before?
Quick answer: yes. In May 2025, the same company pulled Amazon's 325 mg pills for a "brown surface on tablets."
That recall was 4,608 bottles, lot AEF124004A. The record files it under "cGMP deviations." That means a break in the rules for how drugs get made.
Sixteen months later, it was the 500 mg bottles from the same company, under the same Amazon label. The complaint was the color of the pills again.
Both times, the warning came from shoppers who opened a bottle and saw the wrong color. Here are all four recalls side by side. The last column is the fair part.
| What happened | The concern | Named authority and date | What it does NOT mean |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon 325 mg acetaminophen, 4,608 bottles | Brown surface on tablets | Recall D-0471-2025, Aurobindo Pharma USA, May 2025 | One lot, AEF124004A |
| Amazon Extra Strength 500 mg, seven lots | Discolored tablets, cause not named | Aurobindo Pharma USA recall, September 2026 | No health risk named yet |
| Tylenol Extra Strength 24 caplets, 3,816 bottles | Defective container | Recall D-0121-2026, Kenvue, October 2025 | One lot, EJA022 |
| Tylenol packs from one distributor | Rodent activity where they were stored | Recall D-0277-2026, Gold Star Distribution, December 2025 | Not Kenvue's plant |
Can an off-color pill hurt you?
Quick answer: nobody has shown that it can. The recall names no health risk and no cause, and that cuts both ways.
I know what you are thinking. A pill that is a little off color is still the same pill.
Fox Business reported that the recall data "does not identify the cause." It names no health risk. I am not going to pretend an off-color pill hurt anybody.
So why does it still sit wrong with me?
Because a pill should look the same every time. When it does not, and nobody can tell you why, you are left guessing at the kitchen counter.
And this is the second off-color recall of Amazon's pills from the same company in 16 months. So the fix is where your next bottle comes from.
What do I do with the bottle tonight?
Quick answer: if the lot matches, set it aside and contact Amazon. Next time, buy straight from the company that made it.
Start with the bottle in your hand. Match the lot. If it is on the list, put it up high, away from the others, and contact Amazon.
If any pill in any acetaminophen bottle looks spotted or off color, do not take that one either.
Next time, buy straight from the manufacturer. Pick a company whose own name is on the front. Pick one that answers the phone when something looks wrong.
A short chain will not make any pill perfect. But you will know who made it and who to call.
You are not the only one checking this week. Send the lot list to a friend who keeps the same big bottle. Store-brand eye drops were pulled this year too.
For the rest of your house, I point you to Switch to America. It is a private membership store. We are the manufacturer. No middlemen, no markup.
Shannon's Advice
Straight talk from ShannonI do not call them grocery stores. They are poison centers meant to do you and your family harm. It is not just the brands who are doing the harm, it is the stores themselves. They allow these toxic products on their shelves. People are sick and dying. This is a very serious matter. How can we ever trust them again?
We can't trust them. That is where Switch to America comes in. We are a new supply chain, built on family values, trust and affordability.
You do not have to take my word for it. The proof is in my blog posts, the recalls, the lawsuits and the fines, and in the app I built called The Family Home Toxic Scorecard. Also, inside my Switch Circle private community, we talk about real solutions.
Women come to me exhausted, in pain, stressed out, and on a list of prescriptions they never wanted. I have spent over 20 years helping women get off prescription medications. I help families reclaim their health.
We cannot stop them. I have stopped expecting to. However, we can stop walking into their stores. We are linking arms and together taking our control back. Control of our health and our finances.

The receipts
- Federal drug recall record, Aurobindo Pharma USA, September 18, 2026. Amazon Basic Care Extra Strength 500 mg, 1,000 count, lot ACD124048A, 7,836 bottles, for "Discoloration: consumer complaints received for discolored tablets." Not yet classified. What it means: the big bottle in your cabinet can be on it and look like any other.
- Fox Business, October 14, 2026. Seven lots in three sizes, 112,932 bottles. Amazon named the manufacturer as Aurohealth. What it means: match your lot against all seven.

- Amazon Basic Care Acetaminophen label, DailyMed, National Library of Medicine. "Compare to Extra Strength Tylenol," "Made in India." What it means: the name on the front is a store's, not the plant's.

Who do you become?
You become the one who knows whose pills sit in your cabinet.
It is a Saturday night in January. Your husband is on the couch with a fever, and you reach for the bottle without stopping to wonder.
You slice a lemon into a glass of water and carry it in to him. You know where that bottle came from, because you asked.
It started with one lot number on one bottle.
You found the lot number on one bottle. The rest of the house is next.
That bottle hid who made it. The free scan looks at the rest of your house in about three minutes and tells you what to swap first. It is free because your own shelves tell you more than I can. It asks for your first name and cell, and texts your score once. A paid report is offered after. Skip it if you like.

What else do people ask?
Is the Tylenol in my cabinet on a recall?
Only if it matches one of two recalls from late 2025. One is lot EJA022 of the 24 caplet Extra Strength bottle. The other is the small packs Gold Star Distribution shipped.
What if I already took pills from a recalled bottle?
Set the bottle aside and contact Amazon customer service. The recall does not say what changed the color of the pills.
Is the 500 count Amazon bottle on the list too?
Five lots of it are, by Fox Business's count, plus one lot each of the 200 and 1,000 count. Match your lot number, not the size. You caught this one, and you will catch the next one too.
